Stem Labs

About STEM Labs

STEM Lab learning initiatives in Government Schools aim to strengthen learning and bridge inequities. This plan enables the establishment of STEM Labs in schools, creating a conducive environment for effective implementation.

This initiative provides young students the opportunity to work with tools and equipment to understand the "what," "how," and "why" aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). It fosters an integrated approach to Science and Math, fostering real understanding and innovation.

Objectives and Outcomes

The establishment of STEM Labs will foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds and inculcate skills such as design thinking, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, rapid calculations, measurements, etc.

  • Teaching future-ready skills
  • Conducting life-skills trainings and providing mentoring
  • Giving opportunity to showcase their talents
  • Encouraging Give-Back
  • Augment Labs
  • Augment Library
  • Curriculum and Content Development, Capacity Building
  • Engagement with Students

Sustainability Plan

The following factors are considered for planning, implementing, and monitoring the project to ensure its sustainability:

  • Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model to ensure the SMC body members and the government take ownership after our exit from the program.
  • Development of the SMC plan from a sustainability/exit strategy perspective.
  • Improving parental involvement in children's education, especially for students with high absenteeism, lower grades, or in 10th std.
  • Engaging HMs in all decisions and gaining their assurance to maintain the infrastructure and other activities after our exit.
  • Minimizing teacher resistance to new approaches by involving them in the project and providing necessary training.
  • Strengthening teacher training programs to equip teachers for STEM subjects, aiming for them to become master trainers in the future.
  • Linking the project to other school/government flagship schemes.

STEM Labs Established so far

The labs were set up in government schools and social welfare tribal schools, understanding the positive impact these labs can have on underprivileged schools. The aim is to ignite a passion for STEM by providing hands-on experience and real-world applications.

This program has not only boosted the self-esteem of government school students but has also positively impacted their schools, as they contribute more actively to classroom discussions and demonstrate a greater interest in science-related subjects.
