Program Introduction
Project Satrangi Sankalp by Nirmaan has supported the skilling of various LGBTQ+ groups. The major groups that benefitted through this initiative are Transgenders, Gay & MSM Communities and Mixed Queer groups.
The courses focused on and taught are Computer basics, jute bag training, cloth bag training, beautician basics, advanced makeup, spa and body care, photography and fabric design.
About Project Details
- CSR Project : Skilling (different short-term courses) which are identified by communities and having micro enterprise potential
- Volunteering : Financial Literacy and Mock Interviews, Life Skills etc
- Employee Giving : Financial and Non-financial support ( mentoring, livelihoods restarter kits etc) and Corporate Gifting

Opportunities
Skilling project will help community members find an alternative source of income apart from traditional occupations, i.e., begging and prostitution.
Will help in understanding community needs and help in future project planning.
Will help unreached community groups who are often neglected by government schemes and NGOs’ initiatives.
Considerable LGBTQ+ populations are in rural districts. Opportunity to run skill development courses in districts without causing any displacement, loss of employment, and urban migration issues.
Scope for implementing projects in virtual mode for the skilling of beneficiaries belonging to rural areas.
Opportunity for organizing demand-based skilling and entrepreneurship development programs.
Opportunity to reach out to LGBTQ+ communities in rural areas, mainly districts and organize virtual/physical training for them.
Action Plan for Future LGBTQ+ Skilling Projects
- We are presenting our LGBTQ+ projects as one community initiative to get more acceptance and buy-in from the community members.
- We are designing our training curriculum as per community needs.
- We are focusing more on EDP-related training based on communities’ inclination towards it.
- We are focusing on short-term courses as per communities’ needs.
- Projects will be run in clusters through multiple physical satellite centers with the main center located at Begumpet.
- Planning for outreach activities in rural districts of Telangana.
- Planning for non-financial MOUs with individual communities NGOs and societies to build mutual trust and acceptance.
