With over 100 million people under the disability spectrum, LGBTQ+, women from underprivileged backgrounds, how many are visible working in the offices or organizations around us, or studying in any other school or college? The answer is simple: few to none.
They start facing challenges right when they aim to pursue studies, finish their education and their challenges increase when there's a lack of employment opportunities for them in the nation.
In recent years there have been concentrated efforts by various organizations, NGOs, Government in realizing the Diversity and Inclusion initiatives across the UN’s SDG Goals in the country but due to COVID-19 pandemic, there is a huge regression in not only the efforts but also the state of these underprivileged and marginalized communities. Even with the many organizations and NGOs stepping in to help, they were only able to reach only a fraction of the distressed. The access to even the most basic needs of survival have been hindered.
We, at Inorbit, have been working consciously to make our Malls accessible to everyone in the Person with Disability ecosystem and further building/ strengthening the Diversity and Inclusion ecosystem. Last year, Inorbit in partnership with Nirmaan Organization launched Project Pankh to work towards building an inclusive society through the provision of the platform IDCR. About 260 PwDs were supported through provision of various Life Support Equipment, Skilling & Placement and Development of dedicated employment portal for PwDs by raising an amount of 30 Lakhs through various donors/supporters.
